BELL acted as the General Contractor for this project and utilized ABC techniques for the replacement of four bridges and deck repairs to another bridge. Services included detailed ABC hourly scheduling, detailed ABC sequencing, team meetings, subcontractor meetings, Safety Plans, railroad interface, traffic control, construction change directives and proposal requests, submittal review and processing, request for information validation, updates, and quality control. This bridge is located in one of the busiest industrial areas in downtown Nashville, Metro Public Works was very concerned about the amount of closure time that would be needed to replace this bridge. After deciding that this project would be a great fit for using Accelerated Bridge Construction, Metro selected BELL to replace Foster Avenue Bridge over the CSX railroad. Since the design of the bridge had not been finalized, BELL was requested to attend a meeting with the design team to evaluate the constructability around the RR, connection details, and scheduling. This project was constructed using Prefabricated Bridge Elements (PBEs). This 220-foot, 3-span bridge replacement consists of cast-in-place bents, steel girders, precast full depth panels, and precast pavement at bridge ends.  This project also included widening the roadway and the replacement of a 12″ waterline.
