As BELL’s Safety Manager, Grant is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of safety, including working with outside Safety Consultants, Project Managers, and Superintendents to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations. With the goal of eliminating safety and health hazards on our job sites, Grant’s specific duties include:
Developing and maintaining BELL Construction’s Safety Program in compliance with OSHA, TOSHA, and other regulatory agency guidelines
Overseeing BELL Construction’s professional safety training, which includes new-hire orientations, OSHA 10-Hour & 30-Hour certifications, and any additional job-specific training
Conducting bi-monthly job site inspections, and report findings to project managers and superintendents
Ensuring a drug-free workplace by educating personnel on the dangers of substance abuse and conducting random drug tests
Investigating and documenting all work-related incidents and accidents
Training subcontractors when necessary to ensure compliance with BELL’s Safety Program
Overseeing BELL’s Safety Mentoring ‘Red Hard-Hat’ Program where new employees are paired with more senior BELL employees for six months to learn safe working habits
Providing relevant safety training topics to superintendents
Ensuring any incidents and accidents that occur on the job site are immediately corrected
Tracking safety-related incidents and submitting reports for various purposes such as OSHA 300 and 300A Forms, Experience Modification Rating (EMR), and the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) STEP Program
